Biographical Information[edit]
Dan McDermott has been a college coach for over 30 years.
McDermott was an assistant coach at Metropolitan State College in 1982. He was head coach of Wheat Ridge High School in 1983-1984, going 38-14. He also coached American Legion baseball from 1981-1984. Dan was recruiting coordinator and assistant coach at Saint Mary's College of California from 1985-1988. From 1989-1997, McDermott was 345-180-3 as head coach of Briar Cliff University. He was also pitching coach for the 1994-1997 Sioux City Explorers. From 1998-2000, McDermott was pitching coach for Regis University. He became head coach in 2001 and went 235-231 in his first 9 years there. He was named Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 2003. McDermott was named head coach of Academy of Art University for 2015-2023 until the school stopped sponsoring the sport. As of the 2024 season, McDermott is an assistant coach at Colorado Mesa University.
McDermott has also been an associate scout for the Atlanta Braves.
