Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Dan Corder played in the Chicago Cubs system from 1969 to 1975, beginning his career at 17 years old. He played at Triple-A in parts of two seasons, but never ascended to the majors. He was taken by the Cubs in the 5th round of the 1969 amateur draft, a few picks after future star Dwight Evans.

Perhaps his best campaign was 1973, when he went 17-6 with 13 complete games and a 3.11 ERA in 27 starts between the Double-A Midland Cubs (13-3, 2.33) and Triple-A Wichita Aeros (4-3, 4.92). That was his first stint at Triple-A, and he'd appear there again in 1974. Other seasons of note include 1970 (8-4, 3.50), 1972 (9-6, 3.38), 1974 (9-7, 3.55) and 1975 (8-3, 3.85).

Overall, Corder went 58-39 with a 3.77 ERA in 154 games (128 starts). In 858 innings, he allowed 873 hits and 320 walks (1.390 WHIP), while striking out 598 batters. At Triple-A, he was 4-5, 4.85 in 13 starts.
