Biographical Information[edit]
Dan Collins played for the Chicago White Stockings in the National Association in 1874 and the Louisville Grays of the National League in its inaugural season in 1876. He was also an umpire for one game in the NA in 1875 and another in the NL in 1876. In 10 games, he batted .125 with 9 RBI.
Collins was listed as being born in St. Louis, but that was a mistake. His birth place was New Orleans. There is some confusion about when he actually died, with both 1883 and 1918 being possibilities, given his very common name.
