Biographical Information[edit]
Dan Burke played in 1890 for two short-lived major-league franchises, the Rochester Broncos and Syracuse Stars, both in the American Association, and then came back for one game in the National League with the Boston Beaneaters in 1892. With Rochester, he was the fourth outfielder, primarily backing up center fielder Sandy Griffin. With Syracuse, he played exclusively catcher. In 42 career games, he hit .175.
Although he was only 21 when he broke into the majors, he had been playing in organized ball since age 17, originally as primarily a catcher. He continued to play through age 28. Much of his career was in the New England League.
