Biographical Information[edit]

Dalton Renfroe was the younger brother of former major league pitcher, Marshall Renfroe. He played his first season in professional baseball with the Middlesboro Senators of the Appalachian League in 1961, hitting .266 and slugging .359. The then 18-year-old catcher would become a career minor leaguer, spending seven seasons (1961-1966 and 1969) in the Washington Senators organization and finishing out his minor league run in 1970 with the Savannah Indians a Cleveland Indians affiliate.

Dalton played until 1969 before hitting double digits in home runs when he cracked 27 and also had his highest hitting average with a .283 to his credit. That season, the veteran paced the class A Western Carolinas League with 113 RBI and 132 hits and was 9th in average. He was one of only two 20-homer men in the loop, finishing six behind leader Earl Williams. He made the WCL All-Star outfield that season. He had never before slugged over .400 for a full year; that season, he topped .500. He would finish out his pro baseball career with Savannah in 1970 at the age of 27 with a career .250 batting average and 61 home runs while catching 740 games. Dalton fielded the catchers' spot with a lifetime .984 percentage to his credit.

Adding a bit of color to his game Renfroe tried his hand at pitching in 1962 and 1966, as a fill-in for seven games; he pitched 16 innings with no decisions. Dalton never received an invite to the big leagues.
