Biographical Information[edit]
Several major leaguers have had the name Dallas as their first name, but Dallas Bradshaw was by far the earliest. He was not born near Dallas, TX, but instead was born and died in Illinois. He was also the earliest big league player named Bradshaw.
Dallas came to the majors for two games in June of 1917 with the Philadelphia Athletics. He was a pinch-hitter in a game against the Chicago White Sox, who would go on to win the World Series. A few days later he played the entire game against the St. Louis Browns - he batted eighth in the order in a game that the Athletics won, 2-1.
Bradshaw had previously played several seasons in the minors and would continue after his time in the majors.
Perhaps his biggest claim to fame is that he played in the 31-minute record-setting game in 1916 between the Asheville Tourists and the Winston-Salem Twins. [1] Also on the Asheville team was Connie Mack's son Earle Mack, and it was Connie Mack's Athletics that brought Bradshaw to the majors the following year.
