Biographical Information[edit]
Dale Coogan's major league career lasted a little over two months. He hit his sole home run on June 24, 1950, off Ralph Branca in a slugfest that was eventually won by the Brooklyn Dodgers, 21-12, over Coogan's Pittsburgh Pirates. The game was delayed by curfew in the 8th inning (with the Dodgers up 19-12), and when it was finally completed on August 1st, Coogan had been demoted to the minors where he would languish for eight more years before finally calling it quits.
