Biographical Information[edit]

Daisuke Sobue pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball.

Sobue was drafted by the Chunichi Dragons in the fifth round of the 2013 NPB draft, and he joined the bullpen as a rookie. He pitched 54 games with a 3.53 ERA in 2014, then improved to 33 appearances with a 2.70 ERA in 2015. He then extended his solid performance, and collected 12 holds with a 3.14 ERA in 46 relief outings in 2016. Sobue got his first career win on April 20 in the next year after pitching 142 games with the big club; that's the latest for a Central League pitcher. He ended up collecting 9 holds with a 2.57 ERA in 2017.

The Nagoya native was still reliable in 2018 as he notched 17 holds with a 3.14 ERA. Sobue recorded a 3.11 ERA in 44 appearances in 2019, then had his career year in 2020. He recorded an elite 1.79 ERA in 54 games, collected 28 holds and shared the CL NPB Most Valuable Setup Pitcher Award with Noboru Shimizu and Hiroto Fuku. Sobue then had a 2.59 ERA in 55 games in 2021, but slumped a little as his ERA rose to 3.80 in 2022, then collected 13 holds with a 3.57 ERA in 2023.
