Biographical Information[edit]
Daishin Nakamura was an Olympic outfielder. He was with NTT Tokyo in the industrial leagues after college. He played for the Japanese national team in the 1994 Baseball World Cup, hitting .381/.462/.476 with 7 runs in 8 games. He had two assists and no errors in center field. He was 2 for 4 with a run in the Bronze Medal game win over Nicaragua. He won Gold in the 1994 Asian Games and 1995 Asian Championship. In the 1996 Olympics, he backed up Yoshitomo Tani and Takayuki Takabayashi in center field for Japan. He was a frequent pinch-runner. He was 2 for 9 with 6 runs and 3 steals in Atlanta, tying Luis Ulacia for the most steals in the Olympics that year. In the 13-9 Gold Medal game loss to Cuba, he was a late substitute, going 1 for 1 with a steal and a run off Pedro Luis Lazo.
