Biographical Information[edit]
Dad Ritter was a minor league catcher and manager.
Ritter managed the Paris Parasites for part of 1905. He went 2 for 19 with a double for the 1907 Galveston Sand Crabs. In 1908, he hit .253 for the Newport Pearl Diggers. He played in 1909 for the Muskogee Navigators and Marianna Brickeys and also managed the Fort Smith Soldiers. He managed Caruthersville in the 1910 season. In 1911, he played for the Fort Worth Panthers and managed the Cleburne Railroaders; he remained skipper for Cleburne in 1912. He batted .271 for the 1913 Texarkana Tigers and managed them part of the year then hit .230 as their player-manager in 1914. In 1915, he batted a light .221 as player-manager for the Sherman Hitters.
