In 1996, the Tampa Bay Devil Rays and California Angels shared a team in the Dominican Summer League. The Angels were cutting back from the full DSL Angels team they had sponsored since 1992, while the Devil Rays would go on to sponsor a full DSL Devil Rays team beginning in 1997. They had the league's worst record at 12-59. One player, Chairon Isenia, went on to a career with the Dutch national team.
