Biographical Information[edit]

Relief pitcher Curtis Taylor began his professional career in 2016. He was taken by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 4th round of the 2016 amateur draft, one pick after infielder Bobby Dalbec and a few picks ahead of pitcher Shane Bieber.

He began his career with a 2.20 ERA in 17 relief appearances at Low A, before shifting to the rotation in 2017 and posting a 3.32 ERA in 13 starts, while averaging more than a strikeout per inning. On November 30, he was traded to the Tampa Bay Rays for pitcher Brad Boxberger. Back in the bullpen in 2018, he was 6-4, 2.54 with 97 strikeouts and 51 hits allowed in 78 innings. He fell to 0-3, 3.06 in 17 2/3 innings in 2019. On September 1 of that year, he was traded to the Toronto Blue Jays, with fellow minor league pitcher Edisson Gonzalez, as players to be named later to complete a deal for infielder Eric Sogard that took place earlier in the season. He missed all of 2020 as the season was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic. He reached Triple A for the first time in 2021.

He was a Mid-Season All-Star in 2019.
