Biographical Information[edit]
Cuauhtémoc Rodríguez was a long-time executive in the Mexican League. He was inducted in the Salón de la Fama in 2014.
While he was never a player, he spent five years as the General Manager of the Tecolotes de Nuevo Laredo, stating in 1975 when he help found the team, then was the team's Vice-President for another 14 years. In 1994, he moved over to the Tigres de Mexico as team President. Tired of paying second fiddle in the Mexican capital, he moved them to Puebla in 2002, where they became the Tigres de la Angelopolis in 2003, and four years later, in 2007, to Cancun, Quintana Roo, where they are still based today as the Tigres de Quintana Roo. The two franchises won nine league championships under his tenure, and have been perennial playoff teams.
He was named King of Baseball by Minor League Baseball in 2011, as its executive of the year. He served for two terms - the maximum allowed - as Chairman of the Board of the Mexican League, and has also been a member of the Board of Directors for the Mexican national team. He is known for his recruitment skills. He was named the Mexican League Executive of the Year in 2013.
While he was voted into the Salón de la Fama in 2014, as part of a prestigious class that also included Fernando Valenzuela, Daniel Fernandez and Ricardo Sáenz, the induction did not take place until 2019 due to the Hall of Fame's difficult reorganization.
