Crucito Carvajal pitched for three seasons in the minors, all in the Pittsburgh Pirates chain. He was 5-4 with six saves and a 2.57 ERA for the 1979 Shelby Pirates, one of the top hurlers on the league's weakest staff (4.22 team ERA). He remained effective with the 1980 Salem Pirates, going 4-4 with 5 saves and a 2.49 ERA; only closer Dale Mohorcic was better among the regularly used members of the staff. Carvajal split 1981 between the Alexandria Dukes (4-2, 2 Sv, 2.25) and Buffalo Bisons (0-3, Sv, 3.79). Overall, he had gone 13-13 with 8 saves and a 2.71 ERA in 109 minor league games.
