Biographical Information[edit]

Craig Massoni earned a bachelor's degree from Austin Peay State University in health and human performance. He only played baseball there one year, but he led his team to the NCAA tournament and earned the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year award. The San Francisco Giants drafted Massoni in the 33rd round of the 2013 amateur draft and he played in their minor league system for two years. From 2015-2017 he played in the independent Frontier League, mostly with the Gateway Grizzlies.

Massoni switched to coaching shortly after the 2017 season ended and worked as a volunteer assistant coach at Arkansas State University in 2018-2019. He moved to a similar position at Missouri State University in July, 2019.

The Cleveland Indians hired Massoni for the Mahoning Valley Scrappers hitting coach position in 2020 before COVID-19 forced the minor league season to be cancelled. He was the hitting coach for the ACL Indians in 2021, Lynchburg Hillcats in 2022, and ACL Guardians in 2023.
