Biographical Information[edit]
Craig Cozart has been a college coach.
Cozart won 24 games in college, finishing second in the history of the University of Central Florida. The Atlanta Braves took him in the 45th round of the 1995 amateur draft and the San Francisco Giants in the 28th round in 1996. He signed with the Giants, but changed course and went into coaching instead [1]. He was then the pitching coach at his alma mater from 1997-2008, taking over the head coach job with 10 games remaining in the 2008 season. In June 2008, he became head coach of High Point University. His first team there was 21-32 followed by 31-29 in 2010, the school's first winning season in NCAA Division I.
Cozart's three sons all play baseball. Caleb [2] is a first baseman who has played at the University of North Carolina and is a 2024 senior at UNC Greensboro. Jacob [3] is a 2024 Buster Posey Award finalist at North Carolina State University. Sam [4] is a 2024 senior at Wesleyan Christian Academy who is committed to Texas A&M but could draw significant interest in the 2024 amateur draft.
