Biographical Information

Count Gedney was a powerhouse for the first part of 1872, posting numbers of .426/.426/.681 for Troy. He finished up the season with Brooklyn, though, hitting poorly. He played decently in 1873 and 1874, and then struggled in 1875, his last year. He did, however, pitch well in 11 innings in 1875.

He played for the Unions of Morrisania in 1870.

Sporting Life in May 1915 interviewed Gedney, who recalled that he suggested making Cap Anson a first baseman.
