Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Corbin Martin had a memorable major league debut pitching for his hometown Houston Astros against the Texas Rangers­ on May 12, 2019. Pitching in front of friends and family, including his mother on Mothers' Day, he was the beneficiary of a 15-run barrage and won easily, 15-5, as he allowed just 2 runs in 5 1/3 innings, striking out 9 while walking just 1. The Astros had drafted in the 2nd round of the 2017 amateur draft, out of Texas A&M University. He made 5 starts for Houston, going 1-1, 5.59, but was then shut down as he had to undergo Tommy John surgery. Even though he was not slated to return to action before 2021, on July 31st was one of four players sent to the Arizona Diamondbacks to acquire P Zack Greinke; joining him were Seth Beer, J.B. Bukauskas and Josh Rojas.
