Biographical Information[edit]

Connor Norby was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 2nd round of the 2021 amateur draft, out of East Carolina University.

On September 30, 2023, he helped lead the Norfolk Tides to the Triple-A National Championship, when they defeated the Oklahoma City Dodgers, 7-6. he reached base five times during the game. During the season, he had hit .290/.359/.483 in 138 games for Norfolk, scoring 104 runs and collecting 40 doubles, 21 homers and 92 RBIs. He played mainly second base but also started a number of games in left field that season. He was named an Orioles organization All-Star after the season, and with just about any other team, such numbers would have made Norby a hot and hyped prospect, but with the Orioles, who were absolutely loaded with good young players, he was barely in the conversation.

He returned to Norfolk to start the 2024 season, because there was no way to break into the talented major league team. because the previous year's Minor League Player of the Year, Jackson Holliday, was being groomed as the Orioles' second baseman of the future, Connor saw a lot of time in the outfield, except during the three weeks when Holliday was given a look in the majors in late April and early May. He was hitting .286 with 17 doubles and 9 homers in 51 games when he received an emergency call to join the Orioles in Toronto, ON on June 3rd, taking the roster spot of Jorge Mateo, who had to go on the concussion list after a freak accident during which he was hit in the head by the bat of Cedric Mullins while in the [on-deck circle]]. Norby, who had never outside the United States before that day, made his debut at the Rogers Centre batting 9th and starting at second base against the Toronto Blue Jays. Even though he struck out against Kevin Gausman in his first two at-bats, then made an out in his third before giving way to Ramón Urías for defensive purposes, it was a successful debut as the Orioles won the game handily, 7-2. His first major league hit came the next day, and it was a two-run homer off Nate Pearson of the Jays.

His younger brother, Ethan, a pitcher, followed his footsteps by attending East Carolina University as well.
