Connor Gleeson has played for the New Zealand national team.
Gleeson came to the US for college baseball and had a 3.34 ERA in two seasons at South Florida. [1] Transferring to Gardner-Webb, he was 1-0 with a save and a 7.56 ERA in 2021 and 2-2, 7.62 with a save in '22. He then joined New Zealand for the 2022 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers. He relieved Ryota Okumoto in the 7th with the bases loaded, no outs and a 2-1 deficit against Argentina. He threw a wild pitch to make it 3-1, retired Agustín Tissera and hit Exequiel Talevi. He got Jacinto Cipriota swinging but walked Eduardo Zurbriggen to make it 4-1. He retired Lucas Nakandakare on a pop-up then was relieved by Ben Thompson. He finished with a 0.00 ERA, both runs having been inherited. [2]
