Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Cole Sulser was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 25th round of the 2013 amateur draft, out of Dartmouth College. After going 4-14, 5.43 in 2014, he missed all of 2015, and then became a reliever. He reached AAA with the Columbus Clippers in 2016, and spent part of the season at the level over the next two years as well, but did not make it to the Show in spite of generally solid statistics. The Indians were a very good team in that period, winning the division title all three years, making spots on the big league pitching staff come at a premium. Still, in 2018, Cleveland's bullpen was its Achilles' heel, but he still did not get a shot in spite of going 8-4, 3.86 in 47 games between AA and AAA.

On December 13, 2018, he was traded to the Tampa Bay Rays along with IF Yandy Diaz in return for 1B Jake Bauers. He made his major league debut for the Rays on September 6, 2019, pitching in relief in a 5-0 win over the Toronto Blue Jays. He had spent the season in AAA with the Durham Bulls, going 6-3, 3.27 with 2 saves in 49 games, including 4 starts.

His brother Beau Sulser reached the majors in 2022.
