Biographical Information[edit]

Catcher Clyde Pinkerton played in the minor leagues from 1905 to 1911 and managed at that level for a few years, as well. His offensive record is sparse, however it is known he hit .249 in 58 games in 1906 and .239 in 66 games in 1909. He managed the Parsons Preachers to begin the 1906 campaign, being replaced by P.P. Duffy partway through, the Fort Smith Soldiers in 1907, the Wellington Dukes in 1910, being replaced by Spencer Abbott, the Nebraska City Foresters in 1911, replacing Dan Nee and being replaced by T.A. Wilson, and the Lawton Medicine Men in 1911, replacing Cap Metcalf for the latter part of the season.

He died at the age of 42. Sources differ as to the cause of death—Spanish flu was suspected and, from one report of the time, blamed directly. One source suggests flu-induced pneumonia while another blames pneumonia, sans flu. [citation needed]
