Biographical Information[edit]
Clemente Álvarez played two games in the bigs with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2000. He later served as the team's bullpen catcher and as a coach in the Phils minor league system. He hit .222/.263/.444 for Venezuela in the qualifiers for the 2008 Olympics; at age 38, he was one of the oldest players in the tourney. He had previously represented Venezuela in the 1998 Central American and Caribbean Games (they won a Bronze).
