Biographical Information[edit]

Clay Eavenson is a former New York Yankees minor league pitcher. He grew up in Loganville, GA and was home-schooled from 3rd grade through high school. Clay is believed the be the first ever homeschooled high school athlete drafted in a major sport in the modern era. He was pickd by the Yankees in the 28th round of the 1996 amateur draft.

He played in the minor leagues from 1997 to 1999, then played one more season in the independent leagues in 2000. In his best year, 1998, he was 3-4, 4.93 in 13 games (3 starts) between the GCL Yankees and Greensboro Bats of the South Atlantic League.

After baseball, Clay worked in the Tampa Bay area in real estate for four years and then became a full-time professional fishing guide for 15 years. He later owned a web design company and lived in Seneca, SC. He has a wife named Paige and 4 children - Cade, Claire, Caris, and Corrie. His youngest daughter, Corrie, received a liver transplant at 2 years old and is doing very well.
