Claudio Bavera was picked by the Kansas City Royals in the 33rd round of the 2009 amateur draft. He split 2009 between the AZL Royals (4-0, 1 ER in 20 2/3 IP, 21 K, 7 WP) and the Burlington Bees (1 R in 1 IP). In 2010, he was 2-4 with two saves and a 4.50 ERA for Burlington. A Venezuelan pitcher of Italian descent, he was picked for the Italian national team for the 2010 Intercontinental Cup.
