Pitcher Claude Crocker attended UNC with Clyde King. He dealt in two games for the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1944 and one game in 1945 with a 6.75 ERA in 5 1/3 innings. In his lone at bat, August 6, 1944, against Jim Tobin of the Boston Braves, he struck a single, finishing his career a 1.000 hitter. According to the Sporting News of July 18, 1946, he joined the Navy on April 11, 1946. After his playing days, he coached at Presbyterian College; their baseball team now plays at Crocker Field.
