Clarence Brooks was a long-time catcher in the Pacific Coast League.

Brooks debuted in 1908, hitting .254 between four different California League clubs: the Fresno Tigers, San Francisco Orphans, San Jose Prune Pickers and Santa Cruz Sand Crabs. In 1909, he hit .233 and slugged .317 between two Northwestern League clubs. The next year, he hit .266 and slugged .342 for the Spokane Indians. In 1911, he batted .271 with a .382 slugging and 27 doubles for the Boise Irrigators and he also hit .246 in 19 games for the Los Angeles Angels.

Back with the Angels in 1912, Brooks improved to .286 and slugged .309. He hit .262/?/.325 in 1913 and .244/?/.290 in 1914, maintaining his job behind the plate for the Angels. He hit .267 and slugged .310 for the 1915 Angels, then batted .252 with a .289 slugging in 1916, split between Los Angeles and the San Francisco Seals. Leaving the PCL after a six-year stint, he hit .263 and slugged .322 for the 1917 Dallas Giants. He was back in San Francisco in 1918, hitting .256 and slugging .287 while sharing the catching job with Red McKee.

The veteran split 1919 between the Seals and the Vernon Tigers, hitting .311 and slugging .392. Only one other 1919 PCL player with 200+ AB had a better average without playing in the majors. His whereabouts for 1920-1921 are unclear. In 1922, he hit .333 for the Beaumont Exporters, third-best on the club. He apparently spent 1923 with Ogden in the Northern Utah League (not part of Organized Baseball). In '24, he hit .276/?/.339 for the St. Joseph Saints. He remained with the Saints in 1925 and was steady at .279/?/.323. He was 0 for 10 for the 1926 Seattle Indians. With the 1927 Bloomington Bloomers, he hit .237/?/.305 in 24 games to end his career. He also managed the club for part of the year.
