Biographical Information[edit]

Chris Waters pitched a gem in his major league debut for the Baltimore Orioles on August 5, 2008. Facing the Los Angeles Angels, he gave up a single hit and no run in 8 innings of work to pick up his maiden major league win. On September 16th, he pitched a complete game shutout against the Toronto Blue Jays, then in his next start, he had the honor of starting the last game ever played in Yankee Stadium. He gave up 5 runs in 5 1/3 innings, coughing up home runs to Johnny Damon and José Molina, to be charged with the loss.

Waters was the 6th pitcher from 1959-2008 to go 8 or more innings in their MLB debut and allow a hit and no runs, joining Juan Marichal (1960), Billy Rohr (1967), Jimmy Jones (1986), Bob Milacki (1988) and Steve Woodard (1997).
