Biographical Information[edit]

Chris Stowe pitched one season of minor league ball. He was the second of eight first-round picks for the Montréal Expos in the 1993 amateur draft. The 37th pick overall, he was the second of the Expos picks, one of 3 that was compensation for the loss of Mel Rojas to free agency. He had gone 9-0 with a 0.94 ERA as a high school senior, striking out 118 to 19 walks and 34 hits in 67 innings. Stowe pitched 9 games for the GCL Expos, going 2-1 with a 3.23 ERA. He struck out 36 and walked 20 in 39 innings. He was the second straight first-round bust from Chancellor High School, following 1996's Matt Halloran, who made it to AA.
