Chris Sperry has coached college baseball for over 10 years.

Sperry was All-State in high school. In college, he hit .410 as a freshman. He finished with a school record of 102 career walks. Undrafted out of college, he signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers. He was just 3 for 22, albeit with 8 walks, for the 1989 Salem Dodgers, fielded .917 and had 3 passed balls in his six games at catcher. He was volunteer assistant at the University of Portland, his alma mater, in 1990. From 1993-1995, he was assistant coach at Davis High School. In 1996-1997, he was assistant coach at Centralia College, then was assistant at Portland State University from September 1997 until January 1998. He was then hired to replace Terry Pollreisz as Portland's head coach, after Pollreisz had decided to move into the professional ranks.

Sperry won 175 games in his first 10 years at Portland. He helped develop Eric Hull and Kory Casto among others.
