Biographical Information[edit]

Catcher Chris Schaeffer played in the Toronto Blue Jays chain from 2011 to 2014, reaching AA ball briefly in 2013. Overall he hit .226/.310/.321 while appearing in 103 games. In August 2014 Schaeffer transitioned into a player/coach role with the Lansing Lugnuts while also serving the Blue Jays organization as a rehabilitation catcher. This multipurpose role continued in 2015, though the connection to the Lugnuts may have been severed. In 2016 the player part of player/coach was dropped.

Schaeffer became a full-time coach with the Lugnuts in 2017 and went on to coach the Bluefield Blue Jays in 2018-2019. He was scheduled to be a New Hampshire Fisher Cats coach in 2020 before the season was cancelled due to COVID-19. He did coach New Hampshire in 2021-2023. He was then bench coach of the FCL Blue Jays in 2024.

After the 2021 season, Schaeffer also coached the Mesa Solar Sox in the Arizona Fall League.
