Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Chris Rowley was the first graduate of the United States Military Academy in West Point, NY in almost a century to reach the majors. He had served as a first lieutenant in the United States Army before beginning his professional career, missing all of 2014 and 2015 because of his service obligations. He had been signed as a free agent by the Toronto Blue Jays in 2013 and pitched well with the GCL Blue Jays that year, going 4-0, 1.10 in 9 games, then put his baseball career on pause. He signed with the Jays again in March of 2016 following the end of his Army service. In 2016, he went 10-3, 3.49 in 31 games as a swingman for the Dunedin Blue Jays. In 2017, he was 3-2, 1.73 for the New Hampshire Fisher Cats and 3-4, 2.82 for the Buffalo Bisons, completing a very quick rise through the minor league ladder.

He was a winner in his major league debut for Toronto against the Pittsburgh Pirates on August 12, 2017. With the Blue Jays very thin in the starting pitching department because of injuries, he pitched 5 1/3 innings, allowing only 1 run in a 7-2 win.
