Biographical Information[edit]

Chris Olean was a minor league pitcher.

Olean had an impressive college career, going 24-8 with 246 K in 248 IP. He was at his best as a senior in 1999. Chris walked only 8 while fanning 97 in 89 innings. His 0.60 ERA was second in NCAA Division III (and in all of US college baseball). He was named Division III All-American by the American Baseball Coaches Association.

The Milwaukee Brewers drafted Olean in the 17th round of the 1999 amateur draft. He split the season between two Brewers farm teams in the Pioneer League, the Ogden Raptors and Helena Brewers, going a combined 6-1 with four saves and a 2.76 ERA. He finished fifth in the Pioneer League in ERA, right behind Gustavo Chacin and Duaner Sanchez.

The right-hander was 2-3 with a 3.54 ERA and .79 WHIP in 12 games for the 2000 Beloit Snappers but that was it for him in Organized Baseball. He spent '01 with the St. Paul Saints, going 0-1 with 11 hits and 9 runs in 4 2/3 IP.

From 2001-2009, Olean was pitching coach at his alma mater, helping St. Thomas to two Division III College World Series titles (2001 and 2009). He was named interim head coach in 2010, replacing Dennis Denning.
