Biographical Information[edit]

Chris Hermann, 2012

Chris Herrmann played 3B, OF, and C at Alvin Community College. He was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 10th round of the 2008 amateur draft, but continued on to the University of Miami. There he played mostly OF, and DH.

Hermann was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 6th round of the 2009 amateur draft and signed by scout Hector Otero. He reached the major leagues with the Twins in 2012 and also played parts of the next three seasons in the majors On defence, he split his time between catching and playing the outfield. He had the most at-bats of his stint in 2013 - 157 - when he hit .204 with 4 homers and 18 RBIs. In 2015, he hit a paltry .146 in 45 games and after the season, on November 10th, he was traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks for Daniel Palka.

Herrmann hit a lot better in his first season in Arizona in 2016, with a career-high .284 in 56 games as a back-up catcher and spare outfielder. He played a career high 107 games in 2017, but his batting average fell to .181 although he did hit 10 homers and drove in 27 runs. The D-Backs made it to the postseason, but he did not see any action in any games. In 2018, he moved to the Seattle Mariners after being released by Arizona in spring training. He hit .237 in 36 games. He then moved to the Oakland Athletics in 2019 after having been briefly on the Houston Astros' roster during the of-season. He missed the start of the season with a knee injury that required surgery, and only played his first game on July 2nd. It was a good one, though, as he hit a grand slam off Jake Odorizzi of the Twins to lead Oakland to an 8-6 win.
