Biographical Information[edit]
Chris Cooper was 1-0 with a 1.23 ERA in the 2008 European Cup in Grosseto for the Silver Medal-winning Montepaschi Grosseto. He got a crucial win over T & A San Marino, outdueling former big leaguer Horacio Estrada. In the 2008 European Cup Final Four, he was less successful, allowing 8 hits, 4 walks and 4 runs in 5 innings in a loss to Danesi Nettuno in round one.
He was added to the Italian national baseball team roster for the 2009 World Baseball Classic and again in 2013. He died from a heart attack at age 44 on the day when Italy qualified for the first time top play in the second round of a World Baseball Classic.
