Biographical Information[edit]

Chih-Cheng Chen pitched in the CPBL and the TML for 3 years.

Chen represented Taiwan in the 1994 World Youth Championship and 1997 World Junior Championship. The Taichung Agan signed him in 1998, but he only pitched one game in his rookie year. He went 7-6 with a 5.19 ERA in 1999, but he enlisted into the military and missed the next two months. Chen returned to the league in 2002 with the Chianan Luka, and he had a 3.18 ERA in 5 games. When the two leagues merged in 2003, Chen was assigned to the Macoto Cobras, and he was 2-2 with a 4.19 ERA. He then had a 3.49 ERA in 33 games in 2004, and his ERA was 3.52 in 13 appearances in 2005. Chen was involved in a game-fixing scandal after the 2005 season, and he was banned for life.

Overall, Chen was 13-12 with a 4.07 ERA, struck out 136 and pitched 274 1/3 innings in 6 seasons in the CPBL and the TML. His repertoire included a fastball (peak 91.9 mph), slider, curveball and changeup.
