Chico Lombardo
Anthony Lombardo
Biographical Information[edit]
Chico Lombardo was a college coach.
He hit .411 as a senior at Francis Marion University, setting school records for average, hits (62) and RBI (46) in a season; he was 50-for-54 in steals to boot. His Francis Marion bio says he played a year in the Cincinnati Reds chain but BR register does not verify this information. The Limestone bio says he was invited by the Reds, not that he played for their farm teams at all. He was head coach at Mars Hill College in 1990-1991, the youngest head coach in the country. He was assistant at Winthrop College from 1985-1989? and head coach of Limestone University from 1992-2014 (taking over for Gaylord Perry). He won Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 2005. He was 552-550-2 entering his final season.
