Biographical Information[edit]

John "Chick" Smith pitched five times in the major leagues, in April and May of 1913 for the Cincinnati Reds. In each outing he pitched at least two innings, and had his best game on April 28th when he hurled for 5 2/3 innings against the St. Louis Cardinals and gave up only one run. Chick was sold by the Reds to the Nashville Vols after his major league appearances.

Smith also played for the Concordia Travelers in 1910 and 1911.

Chick was born, and died, in Dayton, KY, which is across the river from Cincinnati, OH.
