Biographical Information[edit]
Chick Leahey was a minor league player and a long-time college coach at his alma mater, Bates College.
After serving in the Marines in World War II, Leahey played two seasons in the New York Yankees organization. After his last season in 1948, he enrolled at Bates. Because of his professional play, he was unable to play for the Bates baseball team.
After graduating from Columbia University with a master's degree and teaching and coaching at a high school, Leahey took the head baseball coaching position at Bates in December of 1955. He remained in the position until after the 1990 season.
