Biographical Information[edit]

Cheng-Yi Lin played in the CPBL for 8 years.

Lin was drafted by the La New Bears in the 9th round of the 2009 CPBL Draft, and he recorded a .263/.321/.360 with a league-leading 37 RBI in the CPBL minor league. He hit .254/.359/.373 in 33 games in 2011, and he was 0-for-2 in the 2011 Taiwan Series. The Uni-President Lions beat the Bears in 5 games. Lin then hit .250/.282/.250 in 2012, and his batting line was .222/.296/.302 in 38 games in 2013. He was 1-for-16 in 2014, and he never had more than 50 at-bats in a season again until he announced his retirement in 2018. He then coached the minor league team of the Lamigo Monkeys in 2020, and he served as assistant batting coach for the Monkeys from 2021 to 2022. Lin became the batting coach of their minor league squad in 2023.

Overall, Lin had hit .226/.292/.295 with 65 hits in 8 seasons in the CPBL.
