Biographical Information[edit]
Chen-Wei Lin has pitched in the minors. His uncle is former MLB All-Star reliever Hung-Chih Kuo.
Lin represented Taiwan in the 2021 U-23 Baseball World Cup and 2022 U-23 Baseball World Cup. In the latter event, he pitched 3 innings with an unearned run allowed against Japan, but he surrendered 2 runs with 4 walks against Australia. The St. Louis Cardinals signed him on July 4, 2023 with a $500,000 signing bonus. He had a 1.93 ERA in 2 starts for the FCL Cardinals, but he struggled with the Palm Beach Cardinals as his ERA was 7.71 in 4 games. He broke out in 2024, and he went 10-5 with a 2.79 ERA in Palm Beach. His fastball also reached 101mph on May 25, and it was the fastest pitch by a Taiwanese pitcher ever. Lin was named the All-Star pitcher of the Florida State League.
