Chatham University was founded in 1869 and was female-only for its existence until it began admitting males to the graduate programs in the 1990s and to the undergraduate college for the fall of 2015. The school hired a baseball coach for a team scheduled to begin play in 2015-2016 school year, having added men's athletics - 44 of the 80 men admitted for 2015 were athletes. The school played a 14 game schedule in 2017, then began full participation in 2018.
