Biographical Information[edit]
Charlie Irwin was a third baseman who played 10 seasons in the major leagues. Although he made 250 errors in his 865 games at third base, that was well above average for those days, and he stayed in the majors despite a lower-than-average batting average.
Most of his career was spent with the Cincinnati Reds, which were an above-average team. He finished out his major league career hitting and fielding better than average on the 1902 Brooklyn Superbas. He then played several seasons in the minors with teams in San Francisco and Denver.
