Biographical Information[edit]

One of two players in the 1880s with the same name, Charlie Householder played in the 1884 Union Association while the other Charlie Householder played in the majors from 1882-1884.

This Charlie was a regular in 1884, splitting his time between third base and the outfield. His batting average, at .239, was higher than the team average of .231.

Charlie's major league season was just one year among many in pro ball. His career stretched from at least 1878 to 1891, mostly with teams in the Northeast.

To make things even more confusing, there was apparently a Charles C. Householder, a pitcher, born in Harrisburg, PA who pitched in the 1870s through the 1890s.
