Biographical Information[edit]

Charlie Hodnett went 14-4 with a 1.88 ERA in his 18 games in the majors. He pitched in both the Union Association and the American Association. His second team, the 1884 St. Louis Maroons, won the UA pennant. In 1883, his ERA was lowest on the staff, while in 1884 his ERA was a bit higher than the staff average.

Similarity scores says the most similar pitcher is his teammate Perry Werden, who pitched only in 1884 and then came back several years later as a position player.

He was referred to as a "St. Louis amateur" when he made the Browns team in 1883.
