Biographical Information[edit]
Charlie Becker threw a pitch called "the battleship sinker" and was known as "the pride of the Navy Yard" (New York Times, April 3, 1912, page 11). He pitched 15 games with the Washington Senators in [1911 Senators|1911]] and 1912, shutting out the New York Highlanders on August 14, 1911 in his third career start. He died at 37 and is buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
