Biographical Information[edit]

Charlie Bartson pitched with the 1890 Chicago Pirates of the Players League. Mark Baldwin and Silver King each made 56 starts, while Charlie had 20. His 4.11 ERA was better than the league ERA of 4.23. He was two years older than teammate Hugh Duffy.

Charlie managed the Peoria team in 1889 and was the president of the team after his playing career ended. An announcement in the Norman Daily Independent of June 21, 1909 stated that Bartson, president and co-owner of the Peoria team, had sold his stock and was retiring from baseball after 25 years of involvement with the sport. He was named a sergeant in Peoria's police department in 1899.
