Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Charles Shipman played in the minor leagues in 1941, 1946 and 1948.
He was 16-10 with a 4.19 ERA for the 1941 Tucson Cowboys, tying John Hetki and Marino Pieretti for third in the Arizona-Texas League in wins, behind Harry Parks and Lee Porterfield. He served in the Army during World War II. Returning to the diamond, he was 14-8 with a 3.49 ERA in 29 games for the Evansville Braves in 1946, tying for the Three-I League lead in victories (with Bob Kohout and Ken Manus). He fell to 6-12, 5.22 with the '48 Saginaw Bears to end his pro career at 36-30. He tied Bob Buhl and Bill Evans for 6th in the Central League in losses in that final campaign.
After baseball, he worked as a tool maker for General Electric.
