Biographical Information[edit]
Outfielder Charles Grimes played in the minor leagues from 1952 to 1953 and from 1956 to 1957.
With the Big Spring Broncs in 1952, he hit .313 with 141 hits in 117 games. He followed that with a .344 mark and 162 hits in 119 games for the Roswell Rockets in 1953. After missing a couple years to service in the Korean War, he returned to action in 1956 with the Hobbs Sports, batting .308/.340/.447 with 17 triples in 125 games. He led the Southwestern League in triples, one ahead of Dan Dobbek. With the Midland Indians/Lamesa Indians in 1957, Grimes hit .289/.328/.408.
Overall, Grimes hit .313 with 603 hits in 478 games.
