Biographical information[edit]

Charles Baird was a minor league baseball player, manager and executive.

He played from 1947 to 1956 for the Palatka Azaleas (1947-1948, 1952-1953), Lakeland Pilots (1953) and Palatka Tigers (1956). He did not play from 1949-1951 and from 1954-1955. Over the course of his five-year career, he batted .298 with 91 hits in 110 games - he never played more than 48 games in a season. In 1953, he managed the Azaleas prior to their move to Lakeland on May 15, and in 1956 he managed the Tigers for part of the season.

Following his playing career, he became the league director of the Florida State League. He also served as the president of an oil distributing company and vice president of Shawnee Airlines. In the 1980s, he served as Commissioner of Putnam County, Florida.
